Planning a wedding party is a lot of work but can also be a lot of fun. You’re only going to get married once (with any luck!) so it’s important to make the occasion special and exactly how you want so you will remember every aspect of it fondly for years to come. There is a lot of planning that goes into a wedding – where you will have the service, who to invite and so on but the wedding party is the really fun bit and is the time when you’ll have the chance to let your hair down and really enjoy your first day as a married woman.

First you need to set a budget for your wedding party. This needs to be part of your overall wedding budget including clothes, invitations, flowers, photography and so on. Wedding parties usually take up the biggest chunk of the wedding budget  when you factor in venue hire, food, your wedding cake, wedding favors, decorations and all the other things that you need for a great wedding reception.

If you’re on a tight budget you may start to despair a little at the estimated costs and small costs soon add up. It is possible however to have a really great wedding party on a budget – you just need to be a little creative and be careful about where the money is going. For couples with high budgets or unlimited funds, you can really go to town and choose the best of everything to really create a wedding party to remember.

You also need to think about the number of guests you will be inviting to the event. It is common to invite only family and close friends to the actual ceremony and then have a larger guest list for the wedding party. The number of guests you invite will determine the size of venue you need and affect the cost for food which will usually be priced on a per head basis.

After deciding on a budget, venue and number of guests, the fun really starts! This is where you get to start thinking about the details and planning everything so it is personal to you. You’ll want to think about wedding party gifts that are given to the best man, bridesmaids and other people who help out with the wedding. You will probably also want to give wedding party favors to everyone who attends the reception as a memento of your special day.

Lots of people choose a color or a theme and this makes a good basis for choosing wedding party decorations. You can often get everything you need including decorations, favors and invitations from wedding party supplies stores which you can find as both brick and mortar stores and on the internet. If you’re on a budget you might want to consider making your own favors and decorations which also makes them more personal to you and can be a lot of fun.

Planning wedding parties can be an exhausting job but it is sure to be lots of fun. If you don’t know where to start, have a look around this site and browsing through wedding magazines for inspiration and ideas – you’ll soon get an idea of the sort of thing you like.
